5 out of 5 stars Sony S2 Sports Radio   June 24, 2010

I got this primarily for listening to baseball games on AM radio while running or riding my bike over trails in Sedona. The reception is great. It makes no difference which way the radio is oriented. The only difficulty is that the clip that I use to attach to my shorts waistband is close to the volume control so that it goes to full volume when I clip it on. I have learned where the wheel is so I can turn it down. There aren't any FM stations here that it can pull in. The weather and TV modes are obsolete. The stopwatch works fine and I can use the "Pitch timer" for barbequeing.

4 out of 5 stars Overall good but not without faults.   September 10, 2007

I found that FM reception does not include weaker stations, even outside.
My real old (broken) two-battery radio (not sport) walkman was fine for all my FM stations, even indoors. Programming remains a chore, but Panasonic is even worse in my opinion. Volumn switch seems too easy to turn by accident. Those headphones I wish were offered as an option on all Sony personal radios, they are good and comfortable. This radio is sleek, (a nicer color than black!) and should suffer abuse ok. If your favorite FM stations are easy to tune in, it will give you good stereo separation and bass boost. Buy discounted, not anywhere near the retail list price, and you should be satisfied on balance.

4 out of 5 stars Nice little radio for workouts   August 6, 2009

I think this is a great alternative to the iPod, when you'd rather hear a radio show instead. It seems to get great reception (although in weight rooms, you can run into interference). But I'm in a big metropolitan area, so I don't know how it would do in a smaller town.
My only complaint about the radio is that the headset has the annoying habit of flopping off the top of my head when I bend over. It's hard to set it tight enough to avoid that. If you're not going to be doing too much bending, you probably don't have to worry, but it's going to drive you crazy if you take it into an aerobics or yoga class.
Still, it's a nice device and I've even used it around the house when the rest of the family doesn't want to be bothered by my radio stations.

1 out of 5 stars AM reception - non-existent   July 28, 2010

Not only is the AM reception horrible but the FM reception is spotty at best. Not a good radio. Period.
