Product Description
GPX KCC-D3004DP, UNDER-CABINET PROGRAMMABLE CD PLAYER

Amazon.com Product Description
Designed specifically for space-challenged users, such as dorm room residents or listeners with overstuffed bedrooms, this GPX CD player and clock radio mounts beneath a cabinet or other wooden surface to deliver enjoyable audio from an out-of-the-way location. The device comes with a mounting template, screws, and spacers, and its extremely slim chassis takes up virtually no space while still offering most of the essential features that listeners expect. The front-loading device delivers CD programming for both audio CDs and CD-Rs, along with a backlit digital LCD display. The AM/FM tuner also transmits weather and TV bands, so listeners can catch up on the audio of their favorite TV programs or track the weather throughout the day. The onboard clock features a timer, sleep timer, and alarm, the last of which users can coordinate with the CD, radio, or traditional buzzer tone. In addition, the system's membrane keypad is easy to operate, with soft-touch controls that respond gently to a listener's touch.

The KCC-D3004DP comes with a pair of built-in stereo speakers and a soft-touch remote control (with storage bracket). It also includes a battery backup (two AA batteries, not included) that guards against power failure.

What's in the Box

4 out of 5 stars Good Value For The Price   May 10, 2005

I bought one of these for my wife when I saw it in a Target ad and it's just fine. Sure, it's not got Sony sound (didn't pay $299 either) but for me it's a lot of product for $49. Includes mounting hardware etc.

This CD player is ok. I don't get a lot of radio stations with it compared to my other radios. I don't like that the remote doesn't work the radio or volume only the cd player. I wouldn't have rather paid a little more for a better one.

2 out of 5 stars Get this if you do not care about sound quality   February 11, 2005

The sound quality is quite poor - think AM transistor radio. The tuning has a digital display, but a dial knob that is difficult to get tuned properly. I'm returning and going with a higher quality unit.

I got this same system at Kmart for I think 49.99 for my wife's birthday, I decided I was going to give it to her early and install it while she was out. I pulled it out of the box and was totally crushed by the cheap feel of it. I plugged it in and couldn't figure out how to get a CD in it even though I kept pushing the tray open button. Didn't see the am/fm/cd switch not very conviently located on the right side. Once I switched it to CD I was able to insert a CD but the display kept changing as if trying to find a radio station and said it was on AM. The cd (a home burned CDR-surprisingly enough) worked great and sounded good.
I switched it back to FM to see about getting a station and was able to tune in a couple with the antennea still wrapped up (very surprising), then I switched to AM and tried there too, was satisfied so went back to FM and what the heck?!? The station had changed! It doesn't keep the station if you switch from FM to AM or back...seems very old fashion and totally annoying.

Overall I was very disappointed but then again I never heard of this brand and should have known better to get it.

I returned it that night and am searching for another. Hope this saves someone from wasting time and money.

2 out of 5 stars It works but poor tuner   May 16, 2006

Well, there is no way to improve the very poor tuner.. unable to get even the strongest stations without some other station stepping on it. CD player works if you move the secret switch on the side- Very poor monoral sound.. no real stereo.. kind of sound like a kids toy. Mounting, however, was a real treat- no prob at all and very straightforward. Still, all you have is a second rate unit.
